January 26, 2025 marks the 325th anniversary of the last known “megathrust” earthquake (Magnitude 9.0+) along the Cascadia Subduction Zone, the 600-mile-long fault off the Pacific Northwest coast.
This documentary explores the imminent threat of another large Cascadia earthquake and tsunami. Highlighting Oregon’s extensive preparations, the film delves into state and local efforts, as well as the proactive measures taken by individuals and families. The narrative emphasizes that in the aftermath of such a catastrophic event, every resident will become an involuntary emergency responder. “The Big One” looms large—are you ready?
The screening will be followed by informal discussion with director Brian Landon and local emergency management specialists who feature in the film.
