Join Andrew Boehm, Deputy Director of Archaeological Science, as he shares highlights from the museum’s faunal lab collections. Gather at the museum to hear about Andrew’s research and view specimens from the collection, which is not usually on public display.

Connley Caves Field School with Katelyn McDonough

2:00 to 3:00 p.m. 

Katelyn McDonough, Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Curator of Great Basin Archaeology, will recap the Connley Caves Field School and the student-led research projects that continue at the museum. Spanning multiple decades of research and field work, Katelyn will also share details about the legacy of Dennis Jenkins and critical discoveries from this site.

4:00 to 5:00 p.m. 

Meet with Samantha Hopkins, Department Head and Professor of Earth Sciences, and learn how paleontology field schools build student skills and fossil collections at MNCH. Sam will discuss her specialized interest in prehistoric rodents, share fossil specimens, and engage with us about the vast opportunities that exist for UO students to uncover.
