Collections recovered from professional archaeological fieldwork on state and private land are curated at the museum under the provisions of archaeological permits issued by the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office. Collections from federal lands are held under cooperative agreements with numerous land-managing agencies. Submitted collections must be prepared according to the museum's Curation Guidelines. This includes labeling all materials with an accession number assigned in advance by the museum. Collections must be accompanied by a completed Transmittal Form, which should also be submitted in advance of delivery, and are assessed a standard one-time accessions fee if no additional processing is required. Please note: Accessions fees are $700/cubic foot with a minimum of $175 (under 0.5 cubic feet).
The museum meets the requirements of 36 CFR 79, which establishes standards for the curation of federally owned or administered archaeological collections and demonstrates our repository’s qualifications to provide quality curatorial care.
