Ty graduated with a bachelor of arts from Willamette University, and then went on to earn her master's degree at the University of Oregon. She has lived in Eugene since 1972, working for the Pearl Buck Center and then the Eugene 4-J School District. She taught special education classes from the elementary through middle school levels, and she also taught piano lessons and Sunday school. Now retired, she can devote time to playing the pipe organ and serving as treasurer at her church. Her major interests these days include her grandchildren, family history, and gardening. As a MAC member, Ty looks forward to using her skills as an educator to support the museum's educational activities.
