Rock Weathering by Plants

Weathering is constantly occurring everyday. Weathering is the geological process of rock or soil being broken down by natural forces, mainly through the action of water and even plants. The images show the process of weathering through plant interaction.  Plants grow on top of and through human-made structures.  Their roots can physically break the rock, which makes it even more vulnerable to weathering.  Plants also hold water against the rock and secrete acids, both of which gradually break the rock down.
