Jon Erlandson (PhD, 1988; University of California, Santa Barbara) is executive director of the Museum of Natural and Cultural History and Philip H. Knight Professor at the University of Oregon. In addition to leading the museum and teaching in the UO Department of Anthropology, Jon has conducted field research in coastal California, Oregon, Alaska, and Iceland. His interests focus on the development of maritime societies, human evolution and migrations, and the peopling of the Americas. He has written and edited 16 books and published over 200 scholarly articles, and he serves as co-editor of the Journal of Island and Coastal Archaeology.
