Jon Erlandson (PhD, 1988; University of California, Santa Barbara) has been a professor of archaeology at the University of Oregon since 1990 and was appointed executive director of the Museum of Natural and Cultural History in 2005. In addition to working at the museum and teaching classes in the Department of Anthropology, Jon has done field research in coastal California, Oregon, Alaska, and Iceland. His interests focus on the development of maritime societies, human evolution and migrations, and the peopling of the Americas. He has written and edited 16 books and published over 200 scholarly articles, and serves as co-editor of the Journal of Island and Coastal Archaeology.
