Welcome to the Museum of Natural History's Geology Tour of the University of Oregon.

Geology (Latin geo = earth, and logy = science or study) is the study of the materials and processes that shape the Earth. A geologist studies rocks, minerals, crystals, weathering, erosion, sedimentation, earthquakes, fossils, and economic uses of earth resources. A geologist must be knowledgeable about many areas of science such as chemistry and physics.

Step into the Geology of Oregon exhibit located in the main exhibit hall of the Museum of Natural History. The timeline in this exhibit, based on geologic research, dates the origin of the Earth to be almost 4.6 BILLION years before present (BP). On our tour we will see evidence that the Earth has been through a number of geologic changes. NEXT STOP>>
