Continue west on 15th Avenue to the Pioneer Cemetery. This 1873 cemetery displays interesting geological features. The white grave markers are made of marble, which forms from limestone. The change occurs through the heat and pressure of metamorphism in the crust.* The pale brown, rough surfaced grave markers in the cemetery are sandstone. Other grave markers found in the cemetery are made of limestone and granite.
