VOLUNTEERING INFORMATION


There are lots of ways to get involved at the museum! 

If you like working with people, have a desire to learn and have energy and time to invest, choose one or more of the following positions to begin volunteering at the museum.  Benefits include access to the museum's volunteer library, monthly educational programs, and opportunities to interact with some of the most progressive scholars in archaeology, geology, and more!

Exhibit Hall Interpreter

Exhibit Hall Interpreters provide the personalized experiences and perspectives that make museum trips memorable and meaningful for our visitors.

•  Greet visitors from around Oregon, the nation, and the world.

•  Answer questions and discuss exhibit themes about Oregon's natural world and the cultures of the region.

•  Get visitors involved by helping them use hands-on activity stations.

 

School Programs/Tour Guide

Tour Guides inspire curiosity and critical thinking about Oregon's past and present.

•  Guide groups of all ages from schools, community organizations, and university classes through museum     

    exhibits.

•  Lead hands-on learning activities including exploring artifacts, sorting bones, and investigating fossils.

 

Museum Store Associate

Museum Store Associates provide the customer service that make the museum a welcoming place to visit

•  Assist customers in selecting merchandise unique to the Northwest.

•  Help design store displays.
•  Recommend items for store stock.
•  Assist with special events including book-signings, lectures and exhibit openings.

Fall training sessions:
Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 2 - 23, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.

$30 cost for training includes a one-year membership to the museum ($40 value) and access to the multi-media library.
