Bus Transportation Scholarship, 2009-2010

Thanks to a generous gift from Pacific Continental Bank, the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History is pleased to offer scholarships for school groups who wish to visit the museum during the 2009-2010 academic year. 

Eligibility

Funds will be awarded October 1 – June 1 for bus transportation and/or admission to the museum.  Title I designated schools, as well as schools with at least 50% of students eligible for free or reduced lunch, within the Lane Educational Service District (ESD) are eligible to apply for funds.  Those districts are:

Eugene
Fern Ridge                                                             
Junction City
Lowell
Mapleton
Marcola
McKenzie
Oakridge
Pleasant Hill
Siuslaw
South Lane
Springfield

Scholarship applications must be accompanied by reservation forms and be received at least two weeks before the desired museum visit date.  Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  The Education Coordinator and the Assistant Director of Education will review scholarship applications.  Applicants will be notified by telephone or email within one week of submitting the application.

Planning

School groups are responsible for organizing transportation and arranging a museum visit date.  Dates are available on a first-come, first-served basis only.

Each scholarship will pay the cost of museum admission and/or bus transportation for a school group of up to 30 students and 3 adults.  Additional participants will be charged $1.50 per person.  Two classrooms traveling by one bus are eligible to apply, but must submit separate applications.

Reimbursement to Schools

The museum cannot directly pay bus companies or school district transportation departments.  Schools awarded transportation funds (up to $100 for transportation) will be reimbursed for the cost of the bus upon submission of an invoice, due within 60 days of the visit date. The museum cannot accept purchase orders. Invoices must show that payment has been made to the bus company or department and sent to:  Accounting, Museum of Natural and Cultural History, 1224 University of Oregon, Eugene, OR 97403-1224.   Faxes are not accepted.
