
Open House weekend scheduled at UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History
Celebrate grads and dads with free admission all weekend
EUGENE, Ore. -- (May 30, 2008) -- Explore the Museum of Natural and Cultural History, located at 1680 E. 15th Ave., for free during UO graduation weekend, June 13-15, 2008. With three exhibits on display and a hands-on science room, the museum offers something for visitors of all ages.
The permanent exhibit, ‘Oregon-Where Past is Present’ offers a unique experience for visitors to learn about the rich history of Oregon, spanning 15,000 years of human history and millions more of geologic time. ‘Walk A Mile In These Shoes,’ gives visitors the chance to view the shoes of local and international celebrities, trace the styles and stories of a century’s worth of footwear and learn the truth behind cultural “shoe-perstitions.” ‘Cultural Horizons – Photographs by Dennis Griffin,’ illuminates the variety of cultural heritages the state archaeologist for Oregon has found in extensive travel across the globe
Past and Presents, the museum store, is full of books, bags, and nature-inspired gifts, many created by local artists.
Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Admission is $3 for adults; $2 for seniors and youths ages 17 and under and $8 for families (two adults and up to four youths). Museum members, university faculty and staff and students are admitted free. Admission is free for the public on Wednesdays.
